Serena decided to visit the art exhibition in aid of funds for a new organ at the parish church. At least the tea and biscuits served there should be safe enough. Most of the artwork had been donated by local people, but pride of place had been given to a renowned artist. Her tent-like installation towered above the pews, almost higher than the rood screen, and wafted a pleasant scent about the side chapel. A large, friendly sign invited visitors to enter it. There was also a smaller poster with two entwining faces, but Serena couldn't be bothered to read it. She went in. The interior of the installation was filled with the circular painting of a peaceful English landscape. Here the scent was much stronger. Serena became very relaxed gazing at its bright flowers, and wasn't worried when a sharp blade started to cut through the rolling hills. A demon wielding huge shears was dividing the painting to reveal a sky of glittering of stars. |
